Demarcation of areas with a potential protective function (self-protective and heteroprotective) by GIS procedure for the territory of the Province of Bolzano As part of the Interreg III Italy-Austria 2000-2006 Community Initiative Programme, a GIS-based procedure was developed for the province of Bolzano with the aim of delimiting forest areas with a potentially protective function (divided into self-protective and hetero-protective forest). The following three phenomena have been studied: avalanches, boulders fall and water regimation.
