Geological-environmental itineraries in the Marecchia Valley

From a geological point of view, Val Marecchia is a unique place, which separates and at the same time unites mountain areas very different from each other.Since the passage between the northern and central Apennines, it offers in the middle of Romagna a typically Emilian geological landscape. It is therefore a valley of extraordinary scientific interest, travelled from Scarabelli [the first scholar to travel this valley in an attempt to decipher its geological history] by countless other scientists. A place, in short, that has motivated heated geological discussions and some disagreements, still in existence.Traveling the Marecchia valley with the eyes of the geologist allows us to make a real journey through time, in which millions of years become days and days, very short moments, while the geography changes, the mountains relax and return to being deep seabeds, on the edge of an ocean in which large reptiles were swimming and on whose beaches the dinosaurs walked...
