Health expenditure

Public health expenditure — borne both by the Health Authority and directly by the Province for the Provincial Health Service — in 2015 totalled 1,261.360 million euros. It represents 96.90 % of current expenditure and the remaining 3.10 % of investment expenditure (in real estate, movable property and biomedical equipment). The current health expenditure is quantifiable in 2015 at 1,222,281 million euros and is 97.65 % of the expenditure of the Health Company. It consists mainly of staff expenditure (49.19 %) and expenditure on health services (24.22 %). Other expenditure components are purchases of goods (13.87 %), non-health services (7.23 %) and others (5.49 %). Health expenditure for investments in 2015 amounted to 39.079 million euros, supported 94.79 % by the Health Company and the rest directly by the Province. Current health expenditure per capita in 2015 amounted to EUR 2,300, a slight increase (+ 1.51) compared with the previous year (EUR 2,265 in constant euros).
