List of ecomuseums

The dataset contains the list of ecomuseums present in Umbria. The Umbria Region has regulated with L.R.34/2007 the methods of accreditation to the Umbrian ecomuseal system. The ecomuseum is an alternative concept to that of the traditional museum, focused on the idea of overcoming the concept of a museum-container of objects. The innovative aspect therefore lies in its role as a tool for the cultural, social and economic development of the territory. The aim of the ecomuseum is to reconstruct and witness, with the involvement of the inhabitants, the historical memory, the tangible and intangible heritage, the environment and the landscape, the knowledge and practices of the local populations, also through the promotion of the territory based on the culture of sustainability.
