The **NIL** — Nuclei d’Identity Locale represent areas that can be defined as districts of Milan, where it is possible to recognise historical and project districts, with different characteristics from each other. They are introduced by the PGT (Government Plan of the Territory) as a set of areas, connected to each other by infrastructure and services for mobility, green. These are systems of urban vitality: concentrations of local commercial activities, gardens, places of aggregation, services; but they are also 88 cores of local identity to be enhanced and designed and through which to organise small and large services (Service Plan).
The NILs represent a real territorial atlas, a tool for verification and consultation for the planning of services, but above all of knowledge of the neighborhoods that make up the different local realities, highlighting unique and different characteristics for each nucleus and restoring in a synthetic way the socio-demographic and territorial components. In addition, they express the territorial phenomena representative of local dynamism, and collect data from heterogeneous anagraphic and census sources, related through elaborations with territorial geographical data.
