Magic Foglio 09 Salerno — Map (OpenData)

Sheet 09 is located in the Central Tyrrhenian Sea, is located on the continental margin of the Campania Region and includes the Gulf of Salerno and part of the offshore Cilento. The sheet includes a wide sector of platform continental, a narrow sector of continental escarpment and the head of the Salerno Valley up to the isobata of -800. The morphobatimetric elements mapped in escarpment describe the erosive deviations with their eyelashes, faults, landslide niches and canyon and canal systems. On the platform, however, the elements related to background shapes, substrate outcrops, fluid emission structures and creep phenomena related to distal sedimentation of prodelta prevail. The landslide niches are concentrated along the southern slope of the Salerno Valley and together with the canyon heads back, they are the main critical points in this sea sector. There are 3 critical points that include two landslides and an erosive area. The scientific body responsible for the sheet is the CNR-IAMC.
