Magic Foglio 37 Punta Stilo — Map (OpenData)

Foglio 37 includes the southern part of the Gulf of Squillace, marked recess of the Ionian coast of Calabria that corresponds to a sort of flat isthmus that connects the Sila and the Coastal Chain to the reliefs of Serra and Aspromonte. The sheet includes a part of the continental shelf that, in its maximum extent, reaches about 8 km. The continental escarpment is relatively extensive and articulated, reaching a depth of 1 500 m. The latter is dominated by the morphologies of the intrascarpation relief of the Alto di Riace in the southern part of the sheet, and by the morphologies of the canyons of Squillace in the northern part of the sheet. Only a small portion of the bacinale area, the current Crotone basin, develops up to 1 600 m deep in the eastern part of the sheet. There are 3 critical points that include canyon heads and rocky outcrops. OGS
