Sheet 12 includes the portion of the seabed in front of the stretch of Calabrian-tyrrhenian coast that extends between the inhabitants of Guardia Piemontese and Granata, in the bathymetric range 20-1 190 m.
The area is characterised by a complex physiographic arrangement, defined by a continental shelf
homogeneous and a very articulated escarpment due to the presence of channeled structures, intra-scarped reliefs and small areas characterised by prevailing depressions. From the available geophysical data it is possible to observe a rather homogeneous continental shelf, generally narrow (5-8 km) and acclives (1° 50′-2° 50′), which extends up to 140-150 m deep. The upper continental escarpment is 5-18 km wide, generally little acclimatised (2.5°-4°) and crossed by numerous canalised structures of different extensions. The upper escarpment is limited to the sea by the escaping reliefs that rise hundreds of meters compared to the surrounding seabed. No critical points were identified. CNR-IGAG
