The sheet is located in the Sardinian Sea and includes the sector of the western edge of Sardinia in which falls the northern portion of the amphitheatre of Oristano.
The continental shelf, about 20-25 km wide in the
southern portion of the sheet and about 35 km in the northern area, is predominantly rocky up to 130-150 m deep.
Volcanic buildings, produced by the Plio-Quaternary Volcanism, are present in the southern sector of the sheet off the basaltic rock of Catalan.
The rising lithoid substrate is engraved by channels attributable to the paleo-hydrography of periods of low sea level parking.
The sedimentary cover in the internal platform is
limited to small basins with dune fields.
A prograding sedimentary prism is present in the
external platform with slope break that delimits the platform around 200 m-230 m deep.
The edge of the platform is deeply engraved by several canyon warheads with a clear morphology, probably attributable to recent erosive processes.
There are 2 critical points related to canyon warheads.
The scientific body responsible for the sheet is the CNR-IAMC.
