Represents the area distribution in the subsoil (90-140 cm depth) of the 6 metals content (Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, V, Zn) in agricultural soils. This depth is considered to be representative of the natural background content (‘pedo-geochemical content’ according to ISO/DIS 19258, 2005). Maps are made up of polygon groups of the same concentration classes. The factors regulating the natural metal content of soils are: Source of the sediment in which the soil is formed, texture, and evolutionary degree. For chromium as well as nickel, the dominant factor is the source of the sediments that originate the soil. The map has an original approach in that it uses genetial-environmental interpretation for the assessment and geographical extent of geochemical data, combining the same natural background values with groups of soils with geochemical affinity. Point data are obtained using the XRF analytical method (X-ray fluorescence spectrometry) to determine the total content to perform a thorough and correct geochemical analysis.
