Dataset description
The data in question concern the annual production of municipal waste at municipal level as of 2017 including the % of separate collection and the details of the types of waste collected, formally approved with specific management determination. In particular, the % of separate collection is calculated on the basis of the regional method referred to in D.G.R. 15-5870 of 3 November 2017, consistent with the national method. The acquisition of data takes place through the platform “Yucca — Smart Data Platform” accessed by the waste management consortia, data providers, the Provinces, the Metropolitan City of Turin and the Region, each with specific functions depending on the profile assigned. It should be noted that the data are not fully comparable with previous years due to a different method of calculating waste generation and separate collection. In particular, the new method of calculation in RD includes types of waste that were not previously counted: household composting (provided it is regulated by the municipality of reference with a maximum per capita limit of 120 kg), waste assimilated to municipal waste (e.g. those produced by supermarkets, commercial activities and merchants), construction and demolition waste of domestic origin (with a limit of 15 kg per capita), road sweep waste started for recovery and finally minor selective collections (used batteries, expired medicines, oils, paints and toners). In addition, all harvests are counted before waste. The total municipal waste produced (RT) consists of the sum of waste collected separately (RD) and initiated for recovery operations and undifferentiated municipal waste (RUs) that remain from separate collection. It should be noted that both the sum of the two types of waste (shattering_raee) for consistency with the approved figure, both the bulky and raee quantities respectively, has been provided for bulky and rayee. Similarly, for packaging collected by the multi-material method, in addition to the sum of all the packaging collected, the details of the individual multi-material plastic cans and multi-material metal glass collections were not detailed, numerically and quantitatively insignificant, which can still be obtained as a difference between “multimaterial” and “glass_metal” and “plastic_lactin”. It should be noted that in Piedmont waste management consortia may have a territorial extension that goes beyond the provincial limits. This is the case of the municipalities of Moncalvo (AT) belonging to the Consorzio Casalese Riwauti di AL, Mombaldone (AT) belonging to the Consortium of Waste Services of the Novese Tortonese Acquese and Ovadese of AL, Moncucco Torinese (AT) member of the Chierese Consortium for the services of the Metropolitan City of Turin, Villata (VC) belonging to the Consortium of Basin Basin Novarese.
