Pai Sicilia — Hydrographic Basin of the Elicona torrent and contiguous territorial areas (011)

The water catchment area of the Elicona stream and the adjacent areas, between the Elicona deltorrente basin and the Mazzarrà torrent basin to the east and between the Elicona deltorrente basin and the Timeto torrent to the west, are located in the eastern portion of the northern side of Sicily. The hydrographic district considered occupies a total area of about 120.24 square kilometers, extending from the main watershed of the Peloritani Mountains, which separates the Tyrrhenian from the Ionian side, up to the Tyrrhenian coast, with the streams that flow into the stretch between Patti and Terme Vigliatore.From the administrative point of view, the district under consideration develops entirely in the territory of the Province of Messina and includes a total of 10 municipal territories (Basicò, Falcone, Furnari, Montalbano Elicona, Oliveri, Patti, Raccuja, S. Piero Patti, Terme Vigliatore and Tripi). I centri abitati inclusi all’interno di tale territorio sono quellidi Basicò, Falcone, Furnari, Montalbano Elicona, Oliveri e, in parte, di TermeVigliatore, oltre a numerose frazioni e borgate (S. Anna, Vignazzi, Iuculano, S.Barbara,Due Monti, Braidi, Toscano, Pellizzaro, S. Maria, S. Margherita, Casino di Falcone,Siena, Saiatine, Firriato, S. Filippo, Condurso, Campogrande, S. Cono, Mongiove,Galice, S.
