Population: intercensual reconstruction of the resident population by age, gender and citizenship 2002-2011

On 26 September 2013, Istat released the inter-censorship reconstruction of the resident population by age, gender and citizenship (Italian vs. foreigners) for all the municipalities of Italy. As stated by Istat, it is based on the evidence provided by the last Census, together with a comparative examination with the demographic flows (births, deaths, migrations) that occurred during the same period. It therefore aims to improve both population statistics — in terms of size, structural composition and demographic events — as well as statistical indicators which cannot disregard their use. The rebuilt population is, in fact, an estimated final product, although it is largely based on data collected, and therefore it is not possible to attribute to it meaning other than that exclusively statistical. The dataset contains data relating to the Municipality of Milan between 1 January 2002 and 1 January 2011.
