Dataset description
The project called Transitalia 1997 foresees the realisation of physiomic-structural cartography and damage to forests in 3 areas of the Abruzzo Region (Chieti, L’Aquila, Valle del Liri) not covered by previous cartography, representative of the vegetation of the central Apennines in order to create a thematic cartography highlighting the various types of forest formations and locates the present pathological phenomena.The assessment of the state of the forests was carried out by applying a methodology based on the use of false colour infrared (IRFC) shooting on an average scale of 1: 20.000. The forest areas were sampled through the analysis of several parallel (striped) linear aerial shots, with an E-O pattern, of varying length and distributed in the 3 sample areas.
