The Soil Usage Charter (CUS) is a basic thematic map that represents the current state of use of the territory and is part of the CORINE Land Cover Project of the European Union. The CUS, with a shared language and complies with EU directives, is based on 5 main classes (artificial areas, agricultural areas used, wooded areas and semi-natural environments, wet environment, water environment) and develops for subsequent levels of detail according to the scale of representation. The Cus articulates the reading of the entire territory of the Lazio Region at the fourth level of detail, for a total of 72 land use classes, with a minimum plotted unit of one hectare. It is an indispensable aid to applied research in the field of natural and territorial sciences, to the planning, planning and management of the various territorial levels. The structure of the Charter (and its database), built through a legend with hierarchical development, allows a great flexibility in application regarding the deepening and integration of classes, as well as a temporal comparison of the information contained allowing the territorial reading and the monitoring of evolutionary dynamics. Land use vector maps of the Lazio region, on a scale of 1:25,000, drawn up according to the Corine classification of the fourth level and made for video interpretation of digital orthophotos (Volo IT 2000 — years 1998/1999) and images from satellite Landsat 7 ETM+ (years 1999/2000) and on the CTR (1990/1991).
