Dataset description
The reusable database contains the geographical vector representation of the 2011 census sections
* 1) The Census Section defines the minimum detection unit of the Municipality of Milan on the basis of which the census detection is organised, relating to the 15th General Census of Population and Houses. Consists of a single body bounded by a closed broken line; starting from the census sections, the geographical and administrative entities at a higher level (Census Areas — ACE, inhabited locations, sub-municipal areas, constituencies and others) can be reconstructed as a sum. Each census section must be fully contained within one and only one location. The municipal territory must be fully subdivided into census sections. The field TIPO_LOC identifies the type of location 2011 and can take the following values: 1. town centre: an aggregate of adjoining or nearby houses with interposed streets, squares and the like, or in any case short continuity solutions characterised by the existence of public services or establishments (school, public office, pharmacy, shop or the like) which constitute an autonomous form of social life and, generally, also a place of collection for the inhabitants of neighbouring areas so as to manifest the existence of a form of social life coordinated by the centre itself.
* 2) inhabited nucleus: inhabited locality, without the place of collection that characterises the town, consisting of a group of at least fifteen adjacent and neighboring buildings, with at least fifteen families, with interposed roads, paths, squares, aies, small gardens, small uncultivated and similar buildings, provided that the interval between house and house does not exceed thirty meters and is in any way lower than that between the nucleus itself and the nearest of the houses clearly scattered.
* 3) Production location: a suburban area not included in inhabited centres or centres in which there are more than 10 local units, or whose total number of workers is more than 200, contiguous or close with roads, squares and the like, or in any case short continuity solutions not exceeding 200 metres; the minimum area shall be 5 hectares.
* 4) scattered houses: houses scattered in the municipal territory at a distance so that they cannot constitute even a inhabited nucleus. The following are also reported: the codes of the Census Areas — ACE to which they belong; the resident population as at 31.12.2010.
The downloadable csv resource contains columns of georeferenced points, which correspond to the centroid of the geometry used in the relevant GeoJSON resource.
