Processing obtained from the SRTM3 (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) data produced by the collaboration between NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) and the NIMA (National Imagery and Mapping Agency), with the participation of the German and Italian Space Agencies. The data allowed to generate a DTM of the entire globe using radar interferometry. The obtained processing allows to give a three-dimensional representation of the ground through the simulation of the illumination of the Earth’s surface by a light source, ideally identified with the sun. These calculations were obtained using the hillshade tool of the ArcGis 9.2 software, setting the azimuth of the light source to 315 degrees, the altitude of the light source at 45 degrees and a factor of exaggeration of the light-shade effect equal to 5.
