Precise elements that georefer the tombstones of Dante in the territory of the Municipality of Florence.
The 33 tombstones of the Divine Comedy are located along the facades of some palaces of the City of Florence.
Lapidi Dantesche is a project whose origin dates back to the beginning of the last century on the initiative of the Municipality of Florence, when they were placed in the early 1900s after having been examined by a specially constituted Commission.
More than a century later, on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of Dante’s death, the City of Florence wants to pay homage to the Supreme Poet by making available to the citizens the information and data that the Administration possesses in this regard, with the aim of facilitating the reading of the link between the Poet and the city by reading passages of the Divine Comedy located in places that evoke those same thirds.
The dataset consists essentially of the location of 33 tombstones containing the Divine Comedy’s triplets distributed in the Florentine territory and for which it is possible to consult the transcription.
