Within the framework of the State Environmental Monitoring Programme, the content of metals (cadmium, zinc, copper, lead and mercury) in the liver and spinal muscles of the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Riga (in the filter) was determined in the Baltic Sea and Gulf of Riga fish liver and back muscles — in the perch (Perca fluviatilis) and pelagic herring (Clupea harengus). CD, Cu, Pb and Zn laid in fish liver, Hg fixed in fish fillets. The results are expressed on the dry mass of the sample. The data set includes additional information — fish length, mass, age, water content in liver and fillet. The data quality check has been carried out in accordance with the SeaDataNet quality criteria. The data shall be applicable to the qualitative descriptor D8 for the determination of good environmental status of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive 2008/56/EC drawn up by the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union.
