Seed growing field areas

The data set covers data on species and varieties propagated in Latvia, which, in accordance with international requirements, must be subject to official inspections of seed growing fields. During the inspection of seed growing fields, the State Plant Protection Service shall, at the request of the seed grower, verify the conformity of the variety’s crops for obtaining seed in accordance with the seed growing and seed marketing regulations. Seed certification means the identification of the varieties, the examination of the conditions of cultivation and the characteristics of the quality of the seed, which shall include field inspection, seed quality assessment and follow-up and shall be confirmed by the relevant document.
