Dataset description
Heavy precipitation data are important fundamental parameters in water management planning practice, for example in the Dimensioning of rainwater drainage systems or the Dimensioning of hydraulic structures, whereby overestimations can lead to unnecessary additional costs and underestimations to an increased risk of failure. For this reason, AGE has had heavy precipitation quantiles determined for the entire national territory. In total, precipitation data for 105 measuring points from seven data providers (AGE, LIST, MeteoLux, ASTA, Landesamt für Umwelt from Rhineland-Palatinate, Agrarmeteorologischer Dienst from Rhineland-Palatinate, Sethy from Belgium) were used. The modelled data set offers a spatially differentiated estimate (1x1km resolution) of precipitation data of different durations (15, 30, 60, 120, 180, 240, 360, 540, 720, 1080, 1440, 2880, 4320 minutes) and different recurrence intervals (1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200-yearly). The uncertainties are up to 40 % for the improbable events (> 100-yearly) and small duration levels (< 2 hours). For larger duration levels and more frequent events, the uncertainty decreases considerably.
