This table contains data on submitted, completed and pending appeals in administrative case-law before the courts, broken down by type of regulation.
An appeal to the administrative court is brought against a decision of an administrative body, such as a ministry, a municipality, a social service, etc.
The classification by regulation is based on the law or regulation on which the contested decision of the administrative body was based.
As of 1 January 2005, the court is the court responsible for dealing with tax cases at first instance. Until then, these cases were submitted to the tax chambers of the courts. The Court of Appeal is now the Supreme Court of Appeal for Tax Matters.
This table contains stand figures measured on 1 January and 31 December. This table also provides information on the number of cases submitted and/or completed in a reporting year (flow figures). The figures on 31 December of one year and 1 January of the following year do not always match. A judgment in simplified treatment may be challenged. Calculation of the stand at 31 December from the stand at 1 January and the flow figures do not always lead to the published position. This is the case if, in one year in the same case, a decision in simplified treatment has been taken several times, followed by an appeal lodged. Of such a situation, only one is counted in the flow figures.
For each reporting year, all cases are selected from the registrations of the courts whose action or decision falls within the selection period. In doing so, all the information of a case is selected, even if this information had already been provided before. The completed information contains mutations over already published years. As a result, the figures at 31 December of the previous year and 1 January of the reporting year do not always match.
