This table contains regional-level data on arable farming, horticulture, grassland, grazing animals and farm animals in organic farms. Only companies with at least EUR 3 000 SO (Standard Revenue) are included in the census. For comparison, the table shows the same data of total agriculture.
For all subjects, both the count (surface, number of animals) and the corresponding number of holdings are presented.
The data for this table come from the agricultural census.
The agricultural census is part of the combined task, which is used, inter alia, for the implementation of the agricultural policy and enforcement of the Fertilisers Act.
The reference date for the number of animals is 1 April; the reference date for the crops is May 15.
As of 2016, information from the Trade Register will be used to define the agricultural census.Entry in the Commercial Register with an agricultural SBI (Standard of business classification) is leading in determining whether there is an agricultural holding.
This demarcation is as close as possible to Eurostat’s statistical regulations and to the (Dutch) implementation of the concept of ‘active farmer’ in the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).
The demarcation of the agricultural census on the basis of information from the Trade Register mainly affects the number of holdings, which is a clear break in trend. The impact on areas (except for natural grassland) and animal numbers (except sheep) are limited. This has to do with the type of companies excluded from the new demarcation (such as petting zoos and nature management organisations).
Data available from 2011 to 2017.
