Ambient Ordinance- Roman Limeszone Gelderland

The Empire designates the Gelderse parts of the Roman Limes (Article 7.3 BKL). Through the Provincial Regulation, buffer zones are designated directly around it on the basis of the UNESCO Nomination dossier Lower German Limes. To the extent that an environmental plan applies to sites within the buffer zone of the Roman Limes, the environmental plan lays down rules in the interest of maintaining and strengthening the Roman Limes core qualities. The core qualities of the Roman Limes are fortresses (castella), civil settlements, camp villages (vici) gravefields, the military infrastructure, consisting of roads, waterworks and watchtowers and shipwrecks. The update plan was adopted by Provincial States on 15 December 2021, the date of entry into force is 1 February 2022.
