Applications for asylum; nationality, from 1975 onwards

This table contains annual figures on the number of asylum applications lodged (procedures and persons) and after travellers (residence family members), differentiated by nationality. In addition to the total number of requests, the first and subsequent requests are included. As this distinction could not be made before 2007, the total number of requests and the number of first requests for the years prior to 2007 were the same. In the years prior to 2013, it is not yet known to what extent they are after-travelers (re-travel family members). No separate data are available for some countries before 1994. The figures for these countries are included in the total count. In all cases, these numbers are small. As of 2016, the first requests will include relocation. Data available from: 1975.
