The Archaeological Monuments Map 2014 (AMK 2014) contains an overview of archaeological sites in the Netherlands in 2014. The AMK has not been maintained by the National Cultural Heritage Agency since 2014. The AMK 2014 can therefore be considered a static file. The map was developed in collaboration with the various provinces and municipal archaeologists. The areas have been assessed on the criteria of quality, rarity, representativeness, ensemble value and value of experience. On the basis of these criteria, the sites are classified into sites of archaeological value, high archaeological value and very high archaeological value. This latter category also included the legally protected monuments. The situation as shown in the AMK 2014 differs from the current situation. New archaeological sites have been added since 2014 and existing sites have decayed, larger or smaller. In addition, valuable archaeological remains can also be found outside the sites on the AMK. For an up-to-date overview of the national monuments, including the archaeological monuments, see the Rijksmonumenten dataset (https://nationaalgeoregister.nl/geonetwork/srv/dut/catalog.search#/metadata/eedd39d6-b427-4e11-90fd-f5054241c3a7).
