Dataset description

This table establishes a relationship between the municipal classification (the lowest administrative level in the Netherlands) on 1 January 2020 and various subdivisions of the Dutch territory at upper-municipal level. With the information from this table, figures from municipalities can be added together, so that figures can also be calculated at upper-community level. For the classification by tourist areas, exceptions apply to this. In the table, click the relevant column header (“Tourist Areas”) to get detailed information. The table is composed of: — Codes and names of municipalities. — Localisations of municipalities. This indicates which upper-municipal areas a municipality belongs to. — Size and urbanity of municipalities. — Statistical data. This includes the population and the environmental address density. This data is based on the size and urbanity of municipalities. For each municipality, the table shows which upper-municipal areas the municipality is part of. On the other hand, the corresponding municipalities can be searched for in the parts of the country, provinces and COROP areas. Data available for 2020 Status of the figures: The data is final. Changes as of 18 December 2020: The new regional classification “SubRES-Region” has been added. This is a subdivision of a number of Regional Energy Strategy regions and some names of the Regional Energy Strategy have been adapted. These will also be adjusted in the table ‘Areas in the Netherlands’ for the years 2018 and 2019. Changes as of 2 October 2020: From 01-01-2020 CBS uses the Frisian name (Fryslân) for the province of Friesland. The name of the Regional Energy Strategy Region ‘Hoekse Waard’ has also been changed to the official name ‘Hoeksche Waard’. Changes as of 24 August 2020: The figures of the regional police units have been added. The full name of the Safe Home regions has also been added. In the allocation of municipalities to Labour market regions, it is included for Vijfheerenlanden that it cannot be classified (‘Not to be classified’, code AM99). This municipality has not yet been able to make a choice about which Labour Market Region it joins. When are new figures coming? Each year, a new table containing the most recent area divisions shall be compiled by January at the latest. However, some data are not yet available, which will be added in March. The data shall be definitively established in the summer of the year. See section 3 for a link to the other annual tables.
