Dataset description
This table provides data on the total number of asylum applications submitted and the number of first asylum applications in different countries in Europe and the European Union.
The figures of the countries in this table come from Eurostat; the Statistical Office of the European Union.
On 31 January 2020, the United Kingdom left the European Union. Until then, the United Kingdom was part of the EU28.
Data available from: 2008.
Status of the figures:
The figures in this table are final, with the exception of 2021.
Changes as of May 2022:
The preliminary figures for the year 2021 have been added.
The country Montenegro has been added to the table.
When are new figures coming?
In the first half of 2023, the preliminary figures for the year 2022 are added.
