This table contains figures on the avoided consumption of fossil energy and the avoided emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2). Figures are presented both in absolute terms and relative to the total emissions of CO2 in the Netherlands.
The consumption of renewable energy avoids the consumption of fossil energy and thus the CO2 emissions that would have arisen from the consumption of fossil fuels. Renewable energy is energy from wind, hydropower, sun, soil, outdoor air heat and biomass. This is energy from natural processes that is constantly replenished.
The data can be broken down by energy source/technology and by application (electricity, heat and transport).
Data available from: 1990
Status of the figures:
— final until 2019;
— 2020 further for now.

When will there be new figures:
Preliminary figures for the previous year appear each year in June.
In December, these figures will be adjusted and the status will be further provisional, as figures on solar power and denominators will be adjusted the following year.
