All regulations from the basic legal file are available as open data in XML format. These can be downloaded over HTTPS from the repository. As a result, it is possible to build up its own copy of the basic legal base. Please find below a description of how to build up your own copy.
Initial set
The current collection consists of some 33.000 schemes with a total of around 85.000 situations. In addition, each scheme has a file containing the legal information, an manifest-file and, where appropriate, a collection of images. The total collection occupies a small 100 GB (10 GB). You can apply for a basic set from KOOP. To this end, fill in the legal and regulatory response form and indicate in the comment field that you wish to receive a link to download a basic set of the basic legislation file.
Update regime
The basic legal file is updated on a daily basis. Existing arrangements are amended and new ones enter into force. As it is undesirable to download the whole set again at each change, a service is available to retrieve the changes. This service is based on SRU. More information on this protocol can be found on the Library of Congress website http://www.loc.gov/standards/sru/.
This SRU service allows you to retrieve the amended files periodically. It is also possible to request only the amended regulations of, for example, a particular ministry. For example, you only need to pick up the schemes that are of interest to you.
Below you will find a specification of the fields you can use in the request and the fields you will receive in the response.
The response shall contain, inter alia, fields related to the location of the new/changed state and the corresponding event and STI files. It can easily be downloaded via HTTPS.
You always have an up-to-date copy of the law file by updating the downloaded legal and regulatory base file frequently using the SRU interface.
