Business environment; entrepreneurship internationally compared 1990-2012

This table provides an overview for a number of countries of: — the entrepreneurial ratio; — the share of entrepreneurs and the share of young entrepreneurs in the labour force; — the company’s demographic dynamics (establishments and cessation of holdings, chances of survival of holdings); — the share of rapid growth in the total number of companies; — the attitude towards entrepreneurship; — the proportion of self-employed entrepreneurs among employed persons (by sex). Many corporate demographic dynamics, many fast growers, many (young) self-employed entrepreneurs and a positive attitude towards entrepreneurship indicate a favourable business environment. Please note: In order to make an international comparison possible, the figures presented here use internationally comparable definitions, which sometimes differ from the definitions normally used by CBS. As a result, differences can occur between these figures and national figures published elsewhere on the CBS website. Data available from 1990 to 2012.
