Carbon sequestration in the soil without tillage

What do you see? This map shows the potential carbon sequestration in the soil when implementing the measure no tillage. Under this measure, the soil is not worked (plowed, grazed oid.) and is sown directly into the stubble with special machines. This reduces the soil structure and soil life, which can reduce the degradation of organic matter. The map shows that the potential of this measure is high compared to other measures, especially in the arable areas (Veenkoloniën, Flevoland and Zeeland). What’s the value? This card, together with the maps for the other measures, provides insight into where in the Netherlands a certain measure would be effective for the preservation and capture of carbon in agricultural soils.
