This table contains cumulative quarterly figures on the expenditure and volume of long-term care borne by the General Act on Special Medical Expenses (AWBZ) (until 2015) and from 2015 to the Long-term Care Act (Wlz). The figures refer to care in kind, not care paid from personal budgets.
The figures are based on declarations of realised care by healthcare institutions to healthcare offices and come from the Zorginstituut Nederland. These figures will be available quickly. They do not fully cover the total AWBZ/Wlz expenditure for care in kind because not all parts of the costs are declared during the year. Furthermore, the figures have not been established by the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa).
As of 2015, long-term care will be partly financed by the Wlz. As of 2015, part of long-term care will be financed by other laws: the Social Support Act (Wmo) 2015, Zorgverzekeringswet (Zvw) and the Youth Act. This concerns, among other things, a large part of the extramural care, the Healthcare Gravity Packages (Zzp’s) Mental Health Care (GGZ) C Protected Living and Full Package Home (VPT) GGZ. As a result, a trend break is visible in the first quarter of 2015. The figures presented here from 2015 concern only the expenditures and volumes covered by the Wlz.
Data available from Q1 2010 to Q4 2019.
