Drenthe is rich in so-called Celtic Fields. These are grate-shaped omwalde arable complexes from the Iron Age (approx. 600 BC — 2nd century AD) They are found throughout the province but are not always easily traced. An up-to-date map image was created by archaeological consultancy RAAP of the stock of Drenthe Celtic fields. For this purpose, the entire province was examined by means of an analysis of satellite images and the Current Height File Netherlands version 2 (AHN2).
