This table shows the levies on different energy carriers at reference date. The reference date is the date of introduction or modification of a levy.
The amounts of levies presented are per prescribed measurement or trading unit. For some energy carriers, the charge per user is subject to a maximum limit. Energy suppliers collect the levies from their customers and pay them to the Ministry of Finance. The tax amounts in the table do not include VAT. However, the levy paid by the consumer includes VAT.
The data presented, except for the MAP surcharge, are taken from the Official Gazette. It publishes legislative amendments and decisions or decisions on charges on energy carriers. The relevant laws are the Excise Duty Act, the Environmental Taxation Act, the Petroleum Products Supply Act 2001 and their predecessors.
