This table shows the combustion values of the fuels used in the Netherlands. These are motor fuels for transport and other customers such as construction and agriculture. In addition, the fuels that are used to generate electricity.
The chemical composition of petrol and diesel has changed considerably over the years. The ban on lead used substitute octane-increasing additives with a different combustion value.
The introduction of mandatory blended biofuels further changed the combustion value of motor fuels for road traffic.
In engine petrol and diesel sold to the pump in the Netherlands, a mandatory amount of biofuels has been added.
The Dutch legislation stipulates that since 2007 a part of the total consumption of petrol and diesel for transport of renewable energy must consist of a so-called blending obligation.
