Dataset description

This file contains: — The number of Covid @-@ 19 IC recordings in the Netherlands, by date of IC recording and by date on which the data were notified to the NICE registration (https://www.stichting-nice.nl). The numbers concern Covid-19 IC recordings since the first report in the Netherlands (27/02/2020). The file is structured as follows: — A record per date of statistics for the Netherlands, even if there are no recordings or notifications on that day. The numbers are 0 (zero). The said date for statistics may refer to an IC admission date or the date that the hospital reported an IC admission to the NICE registration. Description of the variables: Version: version number of the dataset. When the content of the dataset is structurally changed (i.e. not the daily update or a correction at record level), the version number will be adjusted (+ 1) and also the corresponding metadata in RIVMdata (data.rivm.nl). Date_of_report: Date and time when the data file was created by the RIVM. Date_of_statistics: Date of IC recording (variable IC_admission) or the date on which the IC inclusion was notified to the NICE registration (variable IC_admission_notification). IC_admission_notification: The number of new COVID-19 patients reported at NICE registration included at the IC as of the date on which the IC admission was reported [Date_of_statistics]. IC_admission: The number of new COVID-19 patients reported at NICE registration included at the IC by IC admission date [Date_of_statistics]. A patient can be admitted to the IC several times. This open data file includes one IC admission per patient. RIVM and the NICE registration have aligned as much as possible the method of determining the most relevant IC recording date in such cases, but the numbers may differ slightly from the data presented by the NICE registration. As of 9 August 2022, new recordings of individuals with a SARS-CoV-2 infection who have also been recorded during a previous COVID-19 episode have been added to this open data file. For this reason, the number of retroactive recordings is higher than in our previous files. The underestimation of the number of recordings since the beginning of the pandemic until 9 August 2022 is less than 1 %. A recording is counted as a new recording when a person with a SARS-CoV-2 infection has a recording date more than 90 days after the previous recording. Despite the fact that hospitals are asked to register the COVID-19 patients several times a day, the registration of the number of patients may be lagging behind. As a result, the numbers of recent days may still be incomplete (https://www.stichting-nice.nl). Corrections made in notifications in the NICE registration source system by hospital staff can also lead to corrections in this data file. In this case, numbers published by RIVM in the past may differ from the numbers in this database. This file always contains the most up-to-date data according to the source system of the NICE registration at the time of creation and publication. Please note: From 1 July 2021, some hospitals pass on the number of hospital admissions and IC admissions twice a week to NICE, i.e. on Tuesdays and Fridays. These registrations will be updated in this RIVM open data file on Wednesdays and Saturdays, so this file will be most complete on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
