Cultural History GIS (CultGIS) is a land-covering data system with information on historical-geographic phenomena.
In the Dutch cultural landscape there are numerous cultural historical elements and patterns that are the result of mining and habitation history. CultGIS categorically maps part of this information. CultGIS provides information at 5 levels: 9 landscape types such as the sea clay area, the coastal zone and the low peat area; 19 partial landscapes; a selection of 70 focus areas; elements, such as dikes, land separations, unicorns, sprouts, etc.; and a land-covering regionalisation with 82 regions.
