This map reflects the importance of pollination, expressed in terms of avoided loss of yield (in %) of pollination-dependent crops. The score is determined by the presence of pollinator-dependent crops (expressed in the loss of yield in the case of non-pollination) and the likelihood of these being visited by pollinators. To develop this map, only agricultural parcels on which pollination-dependent crops are grown. The probability of these plots being visited from surrounding habitats is derived from the map “Potential supply pollination by all pollinators” in the Atlas Natural Capital. The habitats for pollinators originate from the map “Suitable habitat for pollinators” in the Atlas Natural Capital. Different yield losses have been used for different crops based on research (Broekx et al., 2013, De Bruyn, 2014). The map was produced for the Atlas Natural Capital by knowledge institutes RIVM and VITO (Belgium).
