This table contains quarterly data on local government expenses, income and balance; municipalities, provinces, water boards and common regulations. The data shall, where available, be obtained directly from the accounts of the authorities concerned. The methodology used is therefore fully in line with the national rules for local authorities (Budget and Accounting Decision — BBV). The data presented are not in line with the national accounts publications.
No corrections are made by the CBS to the figures provided. The CBS does make estimates for the units belonging to the local government, but which do not provide data.
This table gives effect to EU Directive 2011/85. This Directive forms part of six European legislative measures known as ‘Sixpack’.
The CBS published the revised National Accounts in June 2018. Among other things, gross domestic product (GDP) and total government expenditure have been revised upwards. As part of the revision, the determination of the population has improved qualitatively. The population has grown in size. From the first quarter of 2018, this table publishes income, expenses and the balance after revision for local government. The figures for the quarters before were not adjusted on the basis of the revision. As a result, there is a break between the fourth quarter of 2017 and the first quarter of 2018 due to the changed population common arrangements.
Data available from: first quarter of 2014.
Status of the figures:
All recent figures are provisional. If a new quarter is published, the provisional figures for the previous quarter may be adjusted. Annual figures are published one year after the end of the reporting year in December.
Changes as at 31 March 2022:
Provisional figures for Q4 2021 are included.
The 2020 figures have the status definitive.
When will there be new figures?
The new quarterly figures are published three months after the end of the quarter. If a new quarter is published, the provisional figures for the previous quarter may be adjusted.
