Designated wind areas NWP

The government has designated 4 wind energy areas where wind farms can be built: Borssele, IJmuiden Ver, Dutch Coast and North of the Wadden Islands. These areas are located outside the 12-mile zone, at least 22 kilometers from the coast. The wind energy areas Borssele and IJmuiden Ver are designated in the National Water Plan 2009-2015. The areas Hollandse Kust and Ten North of the Wadden Islands are designated in the National Structure Vision Wind Energy at Sea.In 2015 the development of a wind farm can be started in Borssele. From 2017 onwards, the development of wind farms for the South Holland and North Holland coasts is planned.
