Dataset description

The Food Consumption Survey maps out what the Netherlands eats and drinks. Food consumption data provide insight into food consumption, the intake of macro and micronutrients, the intake of potentially harmful chemicals and their developments (trends). The figures in this table come from the Food Consumption Survey (VCP) 2012-2016 of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). These tables contain data on the intake of nutrients per day of people aged 1 to 80 years. The data are broken down by gender and age and also for different population groups. Not all breakdowns are available, then empty lines will be shown. The available breakdowns are: — Total population — Age in 2 groups — Gender in 2 groups — Age and gender in 4 groups — Age and gender in 16 groups — Education by age and gender in 4 groups — Region — Region by gender — Region by age in 2 groups — Region by age and gender in 4 groups — Urbanisation — Urbanisation by gender — Urbanisation by age in 2 groups — Urbanisation by age and gender in 4 groups In addition, the age groups for alcohol intake are based on 14 to 80 year olds. There are 2 tables available on statline on the intake of macro and micronutrients. The difference between these 2 tables is that one table shows the intake from foods and supplements, and the other table the intake only from foods. In addition, it can be noted that in the table in which supplements are included only the relevant nutrients are shown. That is to say: only those nutrients are shown to which supplements have contributed. This concerns the following nutrients: Calcium, Copper, Fiber, Folate equivalents, Folate equivalents, Iron, Magnesium, Fish fatty acids (EPA and DHA), Phosphorus, Potassium, Retinol, Retinol activity equivalents, Selenium, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B12, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Zinc. The nutrition data were collected from around 4,000 children and adults with two 24-hour nutrition questions. More information about the study can be found on the website www.wateetnederland.nl (see also for the publications on this website). See also the other tables on RIVM-Statline. [English] 1.
