This map shows which extracts emerging substances have been found as a potential or current problem substance. The substance group ‘emerging substances’ includes new and not yet standardised substances. These include, for example, hormones, medicines and
industrial substances such as DTPA and EDTA. The map is based on information from the area files for drinking water extraction.
In an area file of extraction, current and future risks to water quality are identified by the parties involved (municipality, province, drinking water company and water manager). These risks can be both substantive and policy in nature. The area files also identify possible measures agreed by the parties at a subsequent stage. The directors also shape the process of making agreements and monitor the progress of the implementation of measures as agreed.
