Van de Westerschelde was created in 2004 with an ecotope map. A salty ecotope map is constructed by merging several layers of information from the intertidal area: soil height map (height and depth), geomorphological map, dry fall duration map, flow map and salt map. The dry drop duration is based on the 2004 soil altitude map and the water levels that occurred between 2001 and 2004. The dry drop duration is calculated using the M2 model.
