Ecological connections 2014, work card (history)

The ecological compounds are essential components of the EHS (Ecological Main Structure): the traces and the filling have not yet been completed everywhere. For this reason, they are indicatively on the EHS card. Within the core areas of the EHS, the ecological connections have been extended. In the existing large nature reserves, this is a global (dotted) line. The nature reserve itself is the habitat or foraging area of species that use the ecological connections. In areas that still need to be developed as a nature reserve, and in management areas with a main function of agriculture, the drawn line indicates which landscape features will mainly involve animal species. The connections within the core areas of EHS are seen as functioning. Within the city of Meppel there are a number of waterways through which water-bound species can move across the city. This route is generally indicated (dotted line).
