This table contains figures on the degree of economic independence of persons aged 15 to AOW. This is about having income from employment that is at least 70 % of the minimum wage (economically independent) and about having income from employment of at least the minimum wage (financially independent). The data can be broken down by gender and characteristics such as age, household position and socio-economic category.
The data relate to persons aged 15 to retirement in private households with income, as from 1 January of the reporting year. The population without students and students can also be distinguished. Persons who reach the AOW age in the reporting year are not taken into account. For the years up to and including 2017, this means that people aged 65 years or older are not part of the population. Until that year, the AOW age is below 66 years old.
