This table contains quarterly and annual figures on the employment rate of persons and their origin. The population aged 15 to 75 (excluding the institutional population) is divided into the employed, unemployed and non-occupied populations. The working population is further classified on the basis of the employment position and the average working time. A breakdown by gender, age and initial qualification is available for the different classifications.
CBS is moving towards a new classification of the population by origin. From now on, it is more decisive where a person was born, besides where one’s parents were born. The word migration background is no longer used. The main classification of Western/Non-Westerns is replaced by a classification based on continents and common immigration countries. This classification is gradually introduced in tables and publications with population by origin.

Status of the figures:
The figures in this table are final.
Changes as of 12 January 2023:
None, this is a new table. This table is compiled on the basis of the Occupational Population Survey (EBB). Due to changes in the research design and questionnaire of the EBB, the figures for 2021 are not easily comparable to the figures up to 2020. The key figures in this table have therefore been made consistent with the (non-seasonally adjusted) figures in the Labour Participation table, key figures seasonally adjusted (see paragraph 4), in which the results for the period 2013-2020 have been recalculated to reflect the results from 2021 onwards. However, in the case of further detailing the outcomes according to job and personal characteristics, there may be differences between 2020 and 2021 as a result of the new methodology.
When are new figures coming?
New figures will be published on February 14, 2023.
