Dataset description

In the Netherlands, the pension system consists of three components, these are called pillars. The first pillar is the collective retirement pension resulting from the General Old Age Act (AOW). The second pillar is the collective labour-related retirement pension. The third pillar includes individual products from insurers. These can be closed to fill (deficiencies in) the first and second pillars. In addition to the aforementioned pillars, the assets of individuals such as savings and real estate can be used as a pension provision. This table covers the second pillar and provides an insight into the number of claims to future, labour-related and collectively regulated lifetime old-age pension and the total gross annual amount of accrued and attainable future pension in a reporting year. Data on the first and third pillars are not (yet) included in this table. Data available from: 2016. Status of the figures The figures until 2018 are final. The 2019 figures are further provisional. The figures for 2020 are provisional. Amendments as at 31 December 2021 — The provisional figures for 2020 have been added; — The 2019 figures have been corrected (see explanation below); — The 2018 figures have been finalised. The 2019 figures were corrected as at 31 December 2021. As a result of this correction, the numbers, and the corresponding amounts, have increased. The correction is an improvement in the figures. A process improvement/quality improvement and addition of data from two previously missing pension providers have led to this correction. When are new figures coming? The provisional figures for the year 2021 will be published in the fourth quarter of 2022.
