Entrepreneurs; personal characteristics, company size, industry

This table contains figures on the number of entrepreneurs, expressed in percentages, by various personal characteristics (sex, age, educational level and origin). A breakdown was made by economic activity, based on the 2008 Standard Business Classification (SBI 2008) and by company size. The entrepreneurs are determined on the basis of the General Companies Register (ABR), the personal characteristics are based on the System of Social Statistical Files (SSB) of CBS. This table has been developed for the programme “SMEs and Entrepreneurship”. Data available from: 2011 Status of the figures: The published figures are provisional. In subsequent publications, they can be adjusted. For example, CBS expects to be able to provide more detail in the future. CBS is also working on a clear definition of the concepts of ‘entrepreneur’, ‘self-employed’ and ‘self-employed person without staff’ (ZZP’er). Upon completion of this process, the figures will be finalised. Changes as of 15 June 2021: The data for reporting years 2019 and 2020 have been added. When are new figures coming? New figures will be available in mid-year.
