It concerns monitoring data. The Offshore Windpark Egmond aan Zee is the first offshore wind farm built in the North Sea off the Dutch coast. The park consists of 36 windmills, each with a capacity of 3 MW. The location of the park is 10 to 18 kilometers from the coast near Egmond aan Zee. It is a demonstration park: The knowledge and experience gained here is important for the further development of wind energy at sea. This concerns technology, ecology, economic and social feasibility. North SeaWind, a consortium of Nuon and Shell and owner of OWEZ, won the tender for OWEZ in combination with the so-called MEP-NSW research programme, a research programme set up by the Dutch government in 2006. This sets out learning goals for the development of wind at sea. The MEP-NSW has contributed significantly to the learning goals of offshore wind energy. The monitoring and evaluation programme focuses on the following ecological issues: •Birds: flight patterns, presence, intensity, season, day/night due to collision risk assessment: Birds: disturbance living/foraging area, barrier operation. The influence of underwater noise on fish and marine mammals. The variation and densities of underwater life and function as a refugium.
